“Significant” keynote speech on housing planned by Communities Secretary

Eric PicklesCommunities secretary Eric Pickles (pictured) is expected to make a “significant” speech on housing next month.

Announcements about new housing and new housing measures are set to be announced in the Budget on 19 March.

The communities secretary is a keynote speaker at the Home Builders Federation (HBF) policy conference the following week – on 25 March – and is likely to use the event as an opportunity to add further details to the Budget announcement.

He has replaced housing minister Kris Hopkins who was originally due to address HBF delegates at their policy conference.

Pickles is certain to comment on the government’s housing strategy and the measures planned to increase the UK’s housing stock to meet current and expected demands over the coming years.

Shadow housing minister Emma Reynolds will also speak at the conference together with Sir Michael Lyons who is chairing Labour’s housing review.
